I am an avid outdoorsman and have fished and or hunted on four continents, 11 countries (visited may more) and 23 states. I have always been an offroader and backpacker but new to overlanding. I just discovered the Journal and I am hooked. I binge listened to the Podcast! Using Matt's definition I did a three week overland through Patagonia this past December. It was a flyfishing/overlanding adventure with my 22 year old son. It was a epic journey and I hope to do more. We put some hard 3000 KM's on a rental Nissan X-terra though Chile and Argentina. Route 44, 243, 40 and side roads in Argentina. Route 7 and sides roads in Chile. We had crap for maps, but only got lost once and it was only 60 KM diversion. I have wanderlust in the worst way and I like to go about it my way. Overlanding has me intrigued.
I planning on spending the next several years in western North America touring, hunting and fishing. I not too proud to say most of our habitation will be in a luxurious 26 foot travel trailer, but I am going to build a full rig because I want to. I have Ram 3500 HO Cummins on order because I need to tow and want no issues with GRVW. I am putting a Carli long travel suspension on it because I want to do some technical roads. I plan on leaving the trailer behind for a few days on each trip and getting as deep into the backcountry as I am able to fish, hunt or just relax, and my wife will not backpack. I putting on extra goodies like hot water to make sure she is comfortable.
I am here to learn and make some new friends.
