Talk to me about insulated canvas

Interesting - the one we just saw had insulated canvas in similar conditions and I thought it was so effing hot in there lol. Coming from a pop up though, the airflow is just different in a hard-sided and in all fairness we didn't have the fan on. Thanks for all of your help!

I really never thought of the sound thing...that's a GREAT point!

Talk to me about insulated canvas

For those of you with 360-pop-tops (maybe 1-2ft of canvas) do you think insulated canvas is necessary or a nice to have? We DO NOT winter camp, but do our fair share of shoulder season action in the American SW, CO, WY. Temps can dip below freezing overnight. We’ve camped in a variety of...

    Arkto G12 Review and Discussion

Thanks! I think my hangup is what battery options we want - trying to balance weight, budget, and need. Definitely want some solar suitcases so we can bring them along for bigger trips. Thanks for the lighting input - I believe I read your comments on how you handled it higher up in this thread...

    Arkto G12 Review and Discussion

Thanks for all of this! Awesome advice. Love the magnetic carabiner hack! And good to know about the USBs - I'll ask! Looks like we are looking at similar upgrades, except I think I'll go for just the suitcase solar panels (take 'em when I need 'em, leave 'em when I don't) instead of roof solar...

    Arkto G12 Review and Discussion

We are soooo near our decision and it's pretty much Arkto for us! We've seen one and were just at the overland expo seeing if we missed anything that might be an option for us (nothing came close given our random constraints with garage size, towing, etc). But this thread is SO HELPFUL, so thank...

Convince me an Arkto G12 (or something I haven't thought of yet) will suit a family of 3's needs

Thanks for the added info. We can get a 9’ garage door. We tend to be pretty light with our kit and I can only think of a few instances where we would feel the need to fill the water tank to full (we’ve got a 20 gal tank currently and it lasts us 3 days - more if we are conservative). We also...

Convince me an Arkto G12 (or something I haven't thought of yet) will suit a family of 3's needs

We will need a new door - which is a cost to factor in and something we've been considering anyway (should be easy, we've got the space and I was once an architect and my partner was a contractor)

Convince me an Arkto G12 (or something I haven't thought of yet) will suit a family of 3's needs

We've had a variety of campers over the years - mostly modifying standard campers for offroad use. Example: We've got a Flagstaff Mac that we did a leafover on and gave it better wheels for some clearance. But the issue we keep running into is stuff breaking after a short amount of use. Our leaf...
