Foxes have four toes, like dogs. Those tracks look like raccoon to me, although the lack of elongate prints (rear feet) is a bit puzzling. I suppose it may have been moving at speed...

That is an amazing collection... Thanks for all the pictures! The first time I saw an F-117 it was a black triangle in the sky over Ottawa, on its way to (I believe) its first public showing in Canada at the local airshow.
I have to say again that I really love your writing style. You've perfectly captured what I refer to as analysis paralysis in your anecdote about sitting in the truck debating whether to return to the beach. Don't ask how I know... ;)

You've hit it on the head - trash (and sewage) management is often a case of out of sight - out of mind. I can recall seeing such tin can "troves" in rural southern Ontario too, although that is now (mostly) a thing of the past. In the Arctic, it is doubly difficult, as the ground is frozen...
Maybe sometime soon she can join grandpa on a road trip. We camped with our kids when they were small, but "things" started to get in the way... I wish we had tried harder to keep up the tradition.
