    Driving a Delica

Nope, they're not mine, they're sitting at my work. Old parts delivery vans. IIRC they all have transmission issues. Currently being used to store old tires.

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

As of last weekend, this vehicle is retired. A good many adventures were had, but we outgrew it. Picked up a Chrysler Town & Country with many, many buttons and a TV for the little one. Going to outfit it with a folding / removable sleeping platform. The Forester will be getting an engine swap...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

Before you lift, I would recommend some armor first. It's amazing how far a stock Subaru can go with just skidplates and decent tires.

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

Your Forester already has a swaybar. IIRC it is 17mm on the rear. You can upgrade it to the 20mm rear bar off a 02-04 (IIRC, might include 05) WRX sedan. Very easy, just need the bar and bushings.

    Subaru advice (newbie)

The fork is not common, but I have seen them fail on occasion. As cheap as they are, we used to replace them as part of a clutch job on higher mileage cars.

    Subaru advice (newbie)

Outback is longer so you get a bit more interior space. Similar ground clearance. 96-99 will have the DOHC EJ25 which is prone to headgaskets blowing. Forester is shorter. 98 has the DOHC EJ25, basically same as the Outback. 99-02 get the SOHC EJ25 which is prone to headgasket seepage. Not a...

 I know that feeling. Wife has a picture of me passed out around month 7 after spending the day wrapping baby shower gifts, assembling furniture etc... Just wait until you step on a Lego at 2am...

Scoutkid now has a... Vankid? Ideas for rear seats I can put a kid seat in

Skip LATCH and go with a ClickTight seat. LATCH is limited to something like 65lbs including the seat itself which can easily weigh 25 or more pounds. ClickTight? Limited to the seatbelt strength. Side bonus, you literally cannot screw up the installation and it works with any seatbelt from...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

My how the times have changed. Back in the day we looked to the boys down under for the nice Forester and Outback builds. Now, they're in North America :)

Shower inside or no? That is the question

Built in shower / toilet technically makes the van an RV... Might make a difference on your insurance rates. Something to consider.

So you are saying that your coilovers do adversely affect suspension geometry.

Oooohhkay. And just what do you think that "subframe drop" is. Oh, right. Body spacers.

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

Considering that a suspension lift affects axle angles and a body lift leaves the axle angles (mostly) stock.... Yeah, there's a lot more to it than people being cheap.

That LP Aventure makes me miss my old OBS. This was back in 04 IIRC.

    Trooper, Montero, and what else?

Forest service roads, easy on the highway - Subaru 2 people sleeping inside? Yeah, gonna be tight. Outback, maybe.
