    Tex's 2019 LX 570

Hi- just seen your thread. Beautiful car I love the LX. We have a 2009 which has now done 300,000km and is still butter smooth- despite some very serious offroad trips in the UAE and Oman desert. I have run it on the OEM Dunlop AT22s for years, and recently upgraded with 17" ballistic rims...

    250G

Hi Arie Sorry for the slow reply. Yes- via a UK MOD surplus agent (L Jackson & Co) but I am pretty sure they are actually ex Bundeswehr (paint pattern etc). I am not sure if they are the Wolf variant. Tires are the same 225/75R16. I can't see the gearing spec. I'm also looking in...

that's awesome- thank you- it's obvious you love it and I really appreciate the detail on the suspension upgrades.

    250G

Thanks both- that's really helpful. Roverchef- I will probably buy an ex-military one in the UK and keep it there. I think the 'good bones' point is instructive and i will do some more research. Much appreciated!

    250G

I'm looking at buying an ex-military (German) 250GD. I'm trying to work out if this is a good idea, and what I'd need to do to it to make it as good as it can be. Do any of you guys have a view on this model, which is obviously much less powerful than the petrol variants, has drum brakes, etc?

    70 series- engine choice

Thanks for this- you had the 4.5 V8 remapped? Are there any material downsides to doing this? I guess this takes you to around 400bhp? What did that do to your fuel economy? Any other info on upgrades you put on the truck?

    70 series- engine choice

I'm slightly embarrassed to ask this... I know I should know, but can't work out the answer. I'm looking, for myself and for a friend, for a new 76 Troopie for a long trip. We are looking in Dubai, where we have access to a load of options and variants. My friend wants the 4.2 Diesel, I'm...

    Oman & the UAE

Great photos and really good to see what looked like a terrific Dads & Sons trip. I did more or less the same route a few years ago, also inspired by Mike Nott's book. We went down through Wahiba, rather than Umm Semim, and wasted too much time there, so had to rush things a bit on the return...

"Service 4wd" message came on briefly - something to worry about?

I am having a similar problem on my 2012 Raptor. Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know if the Ford setup is similar?

    RTT Advice...?!

I know this is opening a can of worms, but I will be grateful for thoughs on something that I struggle to understand. I want to buy a RTT to put on a bed rack on my Raptor, and to alternate onto my wife's LX570. (We do a lot of desert trips and am planning a long overland route from the UAE...

    Winch help?

First thing- this community is amazing. Thank you for the help- it seems like it was the power supply... All cleaned and reconnected and seems to be working again. Thanks again!

    Winch help?

This may be a dumb question- I'd really appreciate help with my winch. I have a TJM 10,000lb stealth winch on my Ford Raptor. I never really know when it is going to work- the most common problem is a clicking (from the solenoid?) but no engagement from the motor. I went to help a guy stuck...

UAE long weekend- Liwa and the Empty Quarter

Hello, Sorry for the delay in replying. The LX is the Lexus variant of the Landcruiser. It's a 2009- so I guess that's a 200 series LC. It has a terrific 5.7l V8 that produces 380bp and a bucketload of torque. it is a phenomenal car for the desert- ours has 200,000km on it and quite a few...

UAE long weekend- Liwa and the Empty Quarter

I've been a long time lurker on this site and have been in awe of the build threads and some of the expeditions people have put together. As someone who struggles to switch on the windscreen wipers without a qualified mechanic to show me how, it blows my mind that people are able to build...
