    Interesting Portable Chain Saw

Lucky you, glad the wire saw works for your purposes. For me it would be nothing but a way to turn sweat into blisters and blue language. I use my bow saw almost every trip out. Matt

    Interesting Portable Chain Saw

I'm guessing split ring style key rings. I've used a contraption like that in the past, but I still prefer my bow saw. It's flat and sturdy enough to be easy to pack, works faster than any other manual saw I've tried for trail work, and has the same functional capacity as a manual chain saw. If...

    Tire gauge/deflator

Since it's a dial gauge, you risk knocking off the calibration or ruining the gauge entirely. You might be able to replace just the gauge with a higher rated one, or just use some other method to dump the first 20-30 psi, then use the ARB to fine tune it.

Aftermarket seat options? Do they even exist anymore?

Once you find a chiro who works for you, it will change your life. The trick is to find one who works for your body. I was lucky and my first chiro was great, but when I moved, it took 3 tries to find someone whose methods kept me lined up. The other two were highly recommended and very...

    Ammo Can Campfire

Built mine last night: The cardboard I had laying around was some HD triple wall from a recent tool purchase, so I had to tweak the spacing a bit to get it to work out. Didn't use any fancy-pants smelly soy wax pellets, either. ;) Just a bunch of candle ends and some bricks of good old...

Harbor Freight Jack Stands Recalled for Risk of Collapsing

I've got two pairs of these that I use for lighter weight cars and supporting components. Not too expensive, and the double locking system helps eliminate one point of failure. Matt

    Lets talk shovels

I go with a fiberglass, D handled roundpoint 42-44 inches long or so, but I'm also closer to the ground than most guys. Eventually I want to try the all-steel Fiskars, but I haven't needed to replace or upgrade lately. Matt

Can a comealong substitute for a winch?

Well, I've actually tried out both. Like you, I went back and forth between the two options for a while. I finally decided to get the 35' steel cabled version, because I have a few applications where I was concerned about the synthetic rope getting snagged/cut. When I opened the box, however, I...

Can a comealong substitute for a winch?

Depends on the comealong. Your 19.99 Harbor Freight model, probably not. One of these : More Power Puller, yes. MPP is just as expensive as a low end vehicle mounted winch, but way more versatile, able to pull in any direction or to be carried away from the truck to clear trails, ect. I've had...

Ratchet straps, electrical cords and other "tangle-ables"

Paul, if I'm on your wavelength, I'd like straps/pouches for 4 1" wide 12' long ratchet or cam straps, a flap top pouch for 100' of parachute cord with a feed through hole, and another equally sized flap top pouch for miscellaneous hardware or bungee cords. If that wasn't what you had in mind...

Ratchet straps, electrical cords and other "tangle-ables"

I daisy chain all the long straps/cords, then roll them up. Tape or velcro strap around the roll to keep them in place, depending on how often I use that particular item. It makes for nice symmetrical flat cylinders that stack well. If it's particularly long, instead of a roll, I can take the...
