    Waterproofing AutoHome Canvas Tents?

I have a Kodiak canvas tent. I called the company to find out what they recommend for waterproofing. Their rep. said to stick with a silicone product such as Kiwi Camp Dry. Some common products such as Camp Kote plug up the pores so the canvas isn't breathable. I'm sure there are other...

    Official OZTENT review

I'm going to bump this old thread since I'm thinking of getting an Oztent. It looks like the basic Oztent can be set up in about a minute. How much extra time are you looking at to add the optional side & front panels?

Yesterday I crossed paths with a silver one coming up Echo Park road in Dinosaur NP Colorado. I didn't think to snap a pic.

    Best Portable Grill

It depends on how portable you need. I have a Notebook Folding grill and love it. The downside is that it is light duty and doesn't have a lid. The upside is that it works great and packs smaller than any other grill. I have had no issues using it and love the fact that it folds flat. If space...

Now that the 1008 is being released, do you think the price will drop on the 1000he? I'm considering the 1000he but don't want to spend $370-ish then see it for $50 less everywhere a week later.

Bought a kayak - some questions

If I did put three in the kayak it would be me and my 9 & 13 year old daughters. They are about 70# & 100# so I figured the weight would be similar to having a single adult along with me. With three, it looks like I would have the most room sitting in the bow. I'll have to see how it works out...

What to watch for? Looking for a '97 LC

Buy one from an enthusiast that has already fixed everything. I would highly recommend finding one that someone has already replaced the head gasket.

Bought a kayak - some questions

I'm totally new to kayaks. I have been watching Craigslist and just got a good deal on a used Ocean Kayaks Malibu Two XL tandem. I wanted something stable for the family. We will probably be floating down the local river and using it at the beach this summer. The kayak has two 8" hatches and a...

My new custom drawer system kit

I just installed a custom made drawer system and couldn't be happier. I got it from Charles at Warfield Off Road. He's a woodworker that is starting to supply custom drawer kits. Rather than repeat everything I'll link to my thread over at IH8MUD if you would like more details.

Living in a tent for two weeks?

Yes. Get something you can stand up in. I'm a fan of the heavy canvas Kodiak tents (or Springbar if you want to spend a bit more).

    Klean Kanteens

I have been in the plastics industry for 20+ years as an engineer and professor. I have our family follow a handful of rules when it comes to food & plastics. -We don't use plastic cups / silverware / plates at home -We never heat plastics in the microwave -No hot food or drinks that touch...

I'm in the same boat. I really want the ASUS 1000HE but I know as soon as I pay $389 they will be blowing them out for $329 and have a cooler one available. That's how it always seems to work with computers.

Using quick books or any software where you are doing much typing / data entry, you will probably want to carefully check out the keyboards first. I found that the 10" ASUS 1000HE had a much more usable keyboard than the 8.9" models I tried. I could deal with the smaller model if I was just...

There are some people that have posted in this thread that they have had no problem with HDD's. Supposedly on washboard & offroad. I have no experience with them but would like to hear more opinions as I am considering a netbook.

    Sleeping bag questions

We ended up buying Big Agnes bags for the family. My wife went with an "Ethyl" 0-deg. down bag. After trying a bunch of brands, the integrated pad sleeve is what ended up selling us on Big Agnes. We are used to cots and the idea of trying to stay on top of a 20" pad (esp. the kids) wasn't...

Ok folks Kodiak or Springbar ?

I have the 10x14 Kodiak and love it. It has performed flawlessly and is very well made. While the Springbar may be better, the extra cost was not worth it for our needs. Both the Springbar and Kodiak come with lifetime warrantees. I also haven't seen a Springbar or Kodiak owner say a bad thing...
