High speed montero?

Maybe this is a silly question, in fact it probably is. But with the gen 3 montero's being IRS and them being raced in Dakar has anyone done suspension for more higher speed off road?

With 33"-35"s I don't think I need anything really for overlanding, could a montero be a SUV version of a ford raptor?

I used to follow the JeepSpeed stuff and what guys were doing with XJ's and their suspension setups actually can still crawl pretty good

I mean this thing looks more than capable almost stock with the traction control

I thought I read on some forums about people doing some racing with pajero/monteros but can't find any info

Sure but most are probably done using non-off the shelf mods... I.e. Custom suspensions. How fat is ur wallet?

how fat is your wallet is correct. There isn't as big an aftermarket, so unless you find a mfg... you can follow the older fab rule:

1. Say goodbye to stock sheet metal.

2. be prepared for your vehicle to be wider.

3. be prepared for some werid stuff.

In short, you can make any ifs vehicle have more travel, if you widen the point of where the suspension pivots to the point of contact with the ground (i.e. control arm mount to tire).

Most do a combination of the two (move pivot point inboard, and widen the track slightly).

You'll see that their pivot point is pretty much as close as possible to the center of the truck.

How far you can move it in (or out) is the limiting factor. Short IFS designs are more compact, and allow other creature comforts- such as a gas tank, frame rails, usable passenger and cargo space. Going out may make your track too wide.
