Hoping to find a used Carbon Fiber Roof top tent

I owned one and sold it to another expo member here about a year ago. I believe he re-sold it again after that. I wish I could remember who it was. It was an excellent tent and only weighed 97 pounds or something like that. I only sold it because I bought a pop top cruiser. Good luck with the...

Need a ground tent - what is the sub-$1k group consensus these days?

I love my Oztent rv3 but I'm not convinced it could stand up to 300 days a year use. ( the storage bag definitely won't) It's fast and convenient for sure, but the quality is not as good as the Sprinbar in my opinion. Plus it's not made in the U.S.

Autohome carbor fiber Maggiolina tent ( small )

I can vouch for the quality of this tent. I used to own it. I have camped in the heaviest rains and winds up here in Oregon winters and had no problems. And I think it only weighs 95 pounds or something like that. Didn't affect mileage on my diesel 60 series that I noticed anyway. Bump for...

exped duo mattress and RTT ?

I tried to use a standard megamat in my small Maggiolina. It was about an inch and a half too long because of the gears and I learned that the mat is very unforgiving as far as flex. So if it fits in there I think it's a great idea. You would just unplug both plugs and let it mostly inflate...

    Slumberjack Road House Tarp

I'm in the same position. My Troopy has a fiberglass pop top and I don't think it will support a traditional awning either. Until I have the courage to drill into the body panels, I'm going to try and make this work.

    Slumberjack Road House Tarp

I like that! I've been shopping for a tarp just like that but this price point is very good and the shape looks great for attaching to the vehicle. Thanks for posting this.

Insights into registering FJ75 from South Africa in California

J_Hare, I cannot speak to that engine in particular. But I will say that my 1HZ passed Portland Oregon emissions easily. Your engine sounds very interesting though, I like it. Andy

Insights into registering FJ75 from South Africa in California

I am currently still trying to register a 1990 1HZ troop carrier. I used an importer and it has still been a pain. The DMV people seem to contradict each other as to what I need. I did need to have it pass emissions which it did. Then I needed a customs stamp and signature but there is debate...

Best Cruiser for a global expo vehicle?

I agree that 1HZ 75 series is the best, or one of the best you could ask for. I have had no troubles getting parts for mine so far. I have a pop a top from 1990 but even without the lifting top, there is plenty of headroom to put a bench in and sit upright in back. It's huge inside. Averaging...

Hard vs Soft Shell: Read World Efficiency

There are several brands of soft tent that have heavy duty material with other high quality parts. Eeziawn and Autohome both have excellent material.

Hard vs Soft Shell: Read World Efficiency

I have owned an Eezi-Awn series 3 soft roof tent and then a Maggiolina crank up roof tent after that. It was such a relief to not have to have frozen fingers dealing with that soft dirty cover when I was winter camping. It's true you have to tuck in the material on the hardshell but its not...

Recent Customer service expereince with Autohome USA.

I've had a couple different hard shell roof tents including the hydraulic lift versions and the crank is my favorite. As long as it's a strong system like the maggiolinas.

Alu-Cab Hercules Troopy Roof Coversion / Now in the USA!

My timing is just off as usual. Sent you guys an email a couple months ago and was told there was no pop-tops for the Troopy available (which was true at the time I suppose). So I found another complete pop-top troopy, bought it, shipped it and it arrived today in port. I would have rather had...

WANTED: Looking for any expedition equipment

I'm in Portland and I have a few of these things I would be willing to let go of. I have a Ramsey 8000 pound winch ($200), 160 W solar panel with MorningStar controller ($150), and I'm pretty sure I'm going to sell my Maggilolina carbon fiber roof tent size small. Also a 60 L ARB fridge...

    WTB: Exped Megamat

Good info, thank you. I think I'm still going to get it but use it in my Oztent only I suppose. I will try it up in the rtt and if it works let you all know and post a picture.

    WTB: Exped Megamat

I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on the duo myself. My maggiolina is 48" wide inside and I think the megamat is 52" wide. Does anyone who has one of these have thoughts on slightly cramming it in there and possibly just not inflating it as much? I could fit so much more bedding up there once...

    Gordigear RTT Adventure

I think "nightmare" might be a bit harsh. Getting two responses on Easter just a day or two after you notified them sounds like good customer service to me. I broke zippers on my old Maggiolina twice and it was pretty frustrating so I feel your pain. Hopefully the fix is simple for you.
