I love my Oztent rv3 but I'm not convinced it could stand up to 300 days a year use. ( the storage bag definitely won't) It's fast and convenient for sure, but the quality is not as good as the Sprinbar in my opinion. Plus it's not made in the U.S.

I'm in the same position. My Troopy has a fiberglass pop top and I don't think it will support a traditional awning either. Until I have the courage to drill into the body panels, I'm going to try and make this work.

There are several brands of soft tent that have heavy duty material with other high quality parts. Eeziawn and Autohome both have excellent material.

I've had a couple different hard shell roof tents including the hydraulic lift versions and the crank is my favorite. As long as it's a strong system like the maggiolinas.

I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on the duo myself. My maggiolina is 48" wide inside and I think the megamat is 52" wide. I think "nightmare" might be a bit harsh. Getting two responses on Easter just a day or two after you notified them sounds like good customer service to me. I broke zippers on my old Maggiolina twice and it was pretty frustrating so I feel your pain. Hopefully the fix is simple for you.
