I have the R version and it's indeed a drop in.
I read people recommending a charger but from my experience is not needed. I've checked my battery a few times and it measured at 12.8-12.9V which tells me the jk alternator does the job well.
Fyi, GMRS does not require any licensing in Canada but it's limited to 2 Watt. Also, the upper GMRS channels that in US are used for repeaters are not allocated in Canada so their usage is not allowed at all. So only the first 15 channels are useable at 2W.

Saw these guys with Alberta plated two weeks ago on Don Valley Parkway in Toronto. The trailers looked fabulous! I kinda wanted to flag them down and ask about the trailers but it was rush hour which sucks around here.

I still don't see how an RTT offers protection from large animals? What would stop a bear/lion/jaguar to just climb on the hood then on the roof to get to the RTT?..

It seems that all the Uniden marketing material (including pictures) shows the black knob, whereas the real product has the double silver one. Marketing morons....
