    Tent Insulation?

I've tented down to 9*f. while Elk hunting. I have a 0 degree bag (canvas exterior, flannel lined, with holifoil). It keeps me comfortable down to the mid 30's. When the mercury drops lower, I break out the heavy wool moving blankets. I drape one or two, as needed, over the outside of the...

    Any One Tried these Bumpers?

http://ranchhand.com/ I've seen many of these bumpers after an impact with a deer. No notable damage to any of them. I've seen one bumper on a truck that drives in some of the most dense whitetail country we have, that has literally hit more than 2 dozen deer. This one had some of the round...

Help out a newbie, please? need PC based GPS advice.

Thanks for looking. I am shopping for a Laptop based GPS set-up for my rig. Options are numerous, and sometimes confusing, so i figured I'd ask here and get some real world advice on what I might actually need. As usual, money is a factor, but I am willing to pay more for something that is...

    Don't Buy This Hitch Pin!

I too run 3 point style pins in my receivers. But I have a tractor too, so keeping parts common to one another whenever possible just suits my needs. Instead of a spring steel clip, I slip a 5/8" fender washer over the pin, then use a small bolt and nylon nut to keep the pin from sliding out...

The Suburban back end door debate

Barn Doors ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am on my second burb. First was an 86 w/barn doors, I still regret selling that thing. Current is an 85 with tailgate. I have seriously considered buying another barn door burb just for the body, and swapping the whole body out on mine. THAT is how...

Anyone using roofrack mounted water storage?

I do already have a couple of the solar showers. They work great for what they are, but are not a good means of storing and transporting water. I am looking at this as a solution to storing a relatively large amount of water, and not occupying space inside my burb. And, if on the roof, gravity...

Expedition Security: Firearm Recommendations and Suggestions

I can agree with the ease of use statement. And considering that I would recommend to the OP a revolver, something around the 38spcl or 375 magnum with a 3-5" barrel. Double action of course. I also agree with earlier posts that racking a pump shotgun relates in any language that you mean...

    Truck guns?

Well, here in Tx were are almost required by state law to carry a gun. LOL I am rarely found away from home without my Colt 1911 in my truck. When the wife is along, and I think it necessary, I'll throw her Browning High Power 9mm in as well. On the rare occasion I have felt more firepower...

    Heat barrier.

I used FatMat in my '71, and it works great. Was about the best deal I could find on the amount I wanted. Bought it off of ebay. I would use it again in a heartbeat. It took the empty tin can sound of my truck and made it nice and quite. It even made the 40 series flowmasters semi-tolerable.

Actually, I hadn't even considerded linking them together. The concept drawing I created is below.

Anyone using roofrack mounted water storage?

Good point about them getting brittle. I guess making them removable, and storing them out of the UV rays when not in use would go a long way to extending there life. And yeah, I guess gravity would work just fine, aside from saving the reserve air I'd have with me. I guess a bleed valve for a...

Anyone using roofrack mounted water storage?

My plan is to use some bleach to prevent the growth of algae when not in use. Then flushed well and refilled for use. It will not be drinking water. Just wash water storage.

Anyone using roofrack mounted water storage?

I am in the design phase of my custom roofrack. I am seriously considering integrating some PVC tubing into it for H2O storage. It's on a suburban, so if I used 8" PVC, I should be able to get about 26 gallons of water with two tube at 7' long each. That's about 230lbs on the roof. I realize...

off the beaten path coffee solutions

Over the years of hunting and fishing trips I have tried just about every solution there is for making coffee. I have a Lexan Press myself, but find I don't care for it much as the amount of coffee is fairly limited, with cleaning needed between runs. I have, and still do, use the singles...
