Kiamichi Trail (K-Trail) Adventure: The good, the bad, and the ????

Turns I wouldn't worry about. Break over angle I would in a LWB. There were some pretty washed out places. A week's worth of food isn't overkill, it's a variety! If it's raining, we eat cold, if it's nice, we cook. One thing I've learned in all these years is if you can pack it, you can't have...

Kiamichi Trail (K-Trail) Adventure: The good, the bad, and the ????

I would not recommend taking that truck on that trail. LWB full size trucks would have a hell of a time making it. Do not go out there with your family and no other vehicles, no matter what you drive. There are parts that will take paint off the sides, parts that will grab steering components...

    Castor problem?

Just get the damn caster correcting arms. They'll give you the caster you so desperately seek, and keep the swivels stock, so if replacement is needed, you're not waiting a month for parts. I have the arms, built them myself, with assistance from a pipeline welder, had them for 5 or 6 years...

Kiamichi Trail (K-Trail) Adventure: The good, the bad, and the ????

That was in the last 4-5 miles coming down into Clayton. Main trail as my GPS said.

Kiamichi Trail (K-Trail) Adventure: The good, the bad, and the ????

My sons, one nephew and I took a trip this past weekend (2-17-2012) to The Cossatot River, then on to Clayton by way of the K trail. This was our first trip there, and from all the reports and pictures, we expected a easy trail ride. This was true, for the most part, but when we started our...

    Castor problem?

Normally a 2" lift won't cause that "driving on edge" feeling. 3" and up will, and requires caster correcting arms or caster corrected swivel balls. Try waiting on your springs to settle a bit before changing anything else on the front end. If they settle, and most do, maybe the problem will go...

Range Rover Classic vs. Disco II

I can show you plenty of places your Disco will need a 33" tire.

    Locker vs Open

And, driving skills with lockers will take you places you wouldn't believe.:ylsmoke:

    Cones or Retainers

I realize it's just a matter of opinion. Half the trucks I go with have them.

    Land Rover Discovery Suspensions: Caster

I run HD OME springs & TODDCO 2" spacers on the front of my 1988 Range Rover, with 2" longer ProComp shocks and 285/75/16 tires. I have a Truetrac installed, and I made my own bent arms getting angle measurements from an RTE set. I run the stock driveshaft with single u-joints at each end. I...

    Locker vs Open

It's a cut out of a longer video and I cut it out because of references lately about articulation being more important than traction adding differentials. At that time, the blue Range Rover had open F/R diffs and rear cones, everything else being pretty much equal. Now, the blue Range Rover has...

    Locker vs Open

I can show you the rest of the video where a Disco I with taller tires open F/R and a center diff lock had even more trouble than the blue Range Rover. I have a lot of video in that same spot of all makes having lots of trouble there, from an H1 to a BII. Open/open vehicles have a hard time there.

    Locker vs Open

Front tires unload on a hill. Weight shifts to rear. Push a canoe full of potatoes? ****** does that have to do with it?

    Cones or Retainers

My truck is painted with Durabak bedliner. Think I'm worried about ugly?

    Cones or Retainers

Very impressive! Not a single poser in the lot! I have a 1988 Range Rover and run OME HD springs with 2" TODDCO spacers and ProComp +2" shocks, and had to retain mine with stock arms. I used muffler clamps, but I'm a CB. I built a set of cones, then decided I didn't like the way they acted on...
