A pleasant surprise visitor the other day......

28) @Land Rover Jaguar, Las Vegas 1.jpg13) Refuelling in Altai Republic, Russia.jpgAlthough our dealership, Jaguar Land Rover Las Vegas didn't actually take an Overland trip recently (although we would love to), we did stumble upon a visitor that did. Or we should say he stumbled upon us. One of our employees was in the neighborhood of the dealership after hours, about 10 pm on a Monday night to drop off some keys. When he pulled up to the store, there was a tow truck with a 2007 Range Rover at the end of it. He let the tow truck on the property and noticed that the couple that had owned the Range Rover were in the back seat of the tow truck. When they got out to greet our employee the man had a strong accent. After looking at the back of the Rover, he noticed that it had a "Vogue" badge and a European plate attached. When asked where he was from, the man replied "Zion and then said, "actually Switzerland. We broke down in Zion", I got them an Uber to a local hotel for the night and when they returned the next morning it turned out to be just a dead battery. We replaced it and they were on their way. His name is Nicolas Kucera and his lovely wife's name is Eunice Shim, and these are their pictures. He told me this information: "We left Switzerland on 3 April 2016. It took us about 1 month to reach Central Asia (Uzbekistan), where we travelled for approximately 1 month. Than it took us about 2 weeks from Almaty to the Russian-Mongolian border. We spent just over 3 weeks in Mongolia and than it took us another 2 weeks to reach Vladivostok, from where we took a ferry to South Korea on 21 July. We spent about 1 1/2 months in Korea (travelling & visiting relatives). We finally shipped the car from Masan to Tacoma on 24 August (and picked it up in Tacoma on 12 September). Been travelling in the US since then." So far here are his destinations: Zurich - Salzburg - Bratislava - Sahy - Budapest - Krakow - Lviv - Kiev - Kursk - Voronezh - Saratov - Oral - Atyrau - Beineu - Nukus - Khiva - Bukhara - Samarkand - Dushanbe - Khorog - Murghab - Osh - Bishkek - Karakol - Almaty - Semey - Barnaul - Gorno-Altaiks - Kosh-Agach - Ulgii - Khovd - Bayankongor - Dalanzadgad - Ulanbaatar - Ulan-Ude - Tchita - Chabarovsk - Belogorks - Vladivostok - Donhae - Seoul - Deagu - Pusan (Masan) - Seattle (Tacoma) - Yellowstone NP - Salt Lake City - Lake Tahoe - Napa Valley - San Francisco - Yosemite NP - Sequoia/Kings Canyon NP - Los Angeles - Joshua Tree NP - Las Vegas - Zion NP - Bryce Canyon NP 15) Eastern Mongolia.jpg17) Camping in Eastern Mongolia.jpg26) On the Great Salt Lake, Utah.JPG22) Daegu, South Korea.jpg

Awesome trip. There's a distinct lack of lockers/35s/RTT on that vehicle - looks completely stock? All the more awesome.

There was an article in one of the UK LR mags a few years back about a couple that drove an L322 London - Cape Town, and when they got there the only failure was the parking sensors.

I'd still probably chicken out and take something a bit simpler though...
