OK its a bad sign when friend of yours owns a bike shop and wants to meet you on a your ride RIGHT. Well about half way through a Pugsly is comming the other direction and its him. We swap bikes and I get to ride the pugsly the rest of the ride and had to play with the tire pressure a little but hada blast.

The funny thing is we had talked about the Moonlander months ago and how I wanted one once I sold the redline but only glanced at the puglsy. He felt the pugsly had was better equiped for the price( I'm cheap ) and he went to utah for a bike demo and rode all of them.

Still want the Moonelander but I do like the tire selection on this one ( ya he ordered a alternet set of more aggresive tires but no tubes I had to laugh )

SO I have the puglsy and my bike in the van getting ready to head to dinner and as he is walking away goes " I do not plan on getting it back have fun"

Was I just played or what?

Cool Bike. I look forward to hearing about your adventures. With so many fat bikes showing up on the forum we will have to plan a weekend trip.

Thanks for the updates Justin, Looking forward to more, but it is good that you are getting in some quality family time!

Thanks. Summer is coming to a close, the boys have one more week.

Saddle Ride - August 12, 2012

Moonlander-SaddleRide8-12-20124-1292.jpg

Well I definitely have the itch to get back out on the bike. I had planned on riding around La Jolla by my parents house, but as luck would have it I pulled the bike out of the car to find a flat front tire. Three separate burs in the tire. So this morning I managed to get to a local bike shop and pick up a patch kit. Tire is patched and now it is 4:00 pm and I am out in the heat. 90 degree's and very humid, but I had a great time.

Looking South the thunderstorms are building to the East.

Up thru San Elijo I stopped to get this photograph of 3 folks fishing in float tubes. A good day for that.

Looking East between the saddle of Franks Peak and Mount Whitney. I traveled around the mountain down to Questhaven road.

Like Justin has told its a fun and very ridable bike. I think Ill wait and get the Moonlander over the Pugsly just because thats what I wanted and dont really think I need the more agressive tires. need a couple more rides.

Wife to it out and hada blast. She forgot it was ridged until she went of a curb and got a laugh at the suprise.

Out the back door and into La Costa Preserve. I went down and then back up the Switchback Trail.

I stopped and lower the tire pressure at one point. To much bouncing around. On a side note I rode past two guys on Jones bikes with fat front tires. Not your everyday sighting.

Sorry for the late response. Yes those are the factory shifters. I think the reason for them is the ability to dial in the gear in cold weather, think gloves, snow, mud, and ice. They work fine for me.

Moonlander-SaddletoElfinForestSept520124-1822.jpg

Took off out of the house and headed up the usual sections towards Franks Peak and the Saddle. Photograph above is looking East just past the Saddle.

Moonlander-SaddletoElfinForestSept52012-1010712.jpg

Finally took this new single track down the backside. It puts you out right across from the Way Up Trail at the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve.

Moonlander-SaddletoElfinForestSept520122-1010714.jpg

Climbed up the Way Up Trail and then down Cielo back to the road.

Looking North from the top of the Way Up Trail at Mount Whitney(tower). Saddle is just to the left and Franks Peak is to the left of the Saddle. You can see parts of the fire road that I descended.
