We are jumping ahead of a lot of other updates… Yes, we are behind on our Facebook updates, not talking even about blog. It’s light years behind. But we have a happy news – we have finally, after almost 3 months, reunited with ocean!!! We are so glad to be back on coast!!! As for the other updates – they are going to be published slowly – keep following. ;)

NOTE: Our updates here are re-posts of Facebook, so don't be surprised that it's mentioned in our posts :)

Viva Mexico! After nearly 3 months and more than 18 000km we have finally reached Mexico. How was the border crossing? Fun. We missed place, where one should get Tourist Card and drove straight into Tijuana… Had to maneuver around the crazy traffic to get closer to border, then talk to security office (he spoke no English) who arranged us to be escorted back to Customs/Immigration office to get our passports stamped. What else fun we did on first day in Mexico??? Broke the first rule of not driving at night, by driving almost two hours after sunset to meet up with our friends - Flightless Kiwis. One things is clear now – we should learn Spanish ASAP. Other thing – food is amazing!!! ;)

Great trip and good going using the Astro. They are very tough vehicles and nice for keeping everything contained inside. I'm constantly surprised at the places mine will go.

I'm sure it is hard to keep updates coming but thanks for taking to the time to do it every so often!

It's great, very capable and affordable vehicle for overland travel, I totally agree on that :)

Yes, you already know we are in Mexico, but we didn’t finish telling our story on US. So here is the next stop we took – Grand Canyon South Rim. Our visit to it was particularly great as we were meeting up with our new friends Dace and Raivis and heading down to the Colorado River. A grueling 27km, 12h hike took us down to the heart of canyon and up again, and best part about it? It was totally worth it! Spending quality time with new friends, talking about all kinds of interesting things made it easy and fun as well. :)

We have said it before and will say it again, people are the ones who make our adventure interesting. Before beginning our trip we really wanted to visit Overland Journal/Expedition Portal and see how things happen at Overland HQ. We were really thrilled when we got invited, as it was one of our little dreams that came true. It was true pleasure to meet Scott Brady, his lovely wife Stephanie and the strong and vibrant team that stands behind Overland Journal/Expedition Portal. We are truly thankful for the opportunity given to us and for the hospitality we received! Astrid was also happy as she received some TLC. :)

Our friends from “We are from Latvia” have published a story about us and our adventure. It's in English, so you will not have to try to understand Latvian or find a way to translate it. Check it here: http://bit.ly/1HWLtei
