I'm up for founding that group...I think a lot of us could use that kind of support. And I agree with all of that...I know for me, my truck is my daily driver and my only car so I'm going for the least compromised 4x4 I can have, one that I can use every day in reasonable comfort, but wheel on...

You bring up a lot of good points. It's hard to deny to myself that lights would be more of an aesthetic thing and would most likely get used really rarely. I'm with you, it's hard to be a gearhead and not constantly upgrade your rig because you want to do all these little things. I think...

NEW TO THE MITSU | NOT TO THE SITE | 2000 MONTERO SPORT LS

That kinda looks like a head gasket...at least based on where the oil is in that bottom photo. I believe the updated part Pirate was referring to was an updated-design cam seal since the earlier ones are flawed in some way. Big puddles definitely mean bad news.

Good call. If I don't end up using the factory wiring, most of the harnesses I've found come with a fusable relay in-line, so that's a plus. There are some great deals for low-priced LEDs on Amazon! Are you taking about a hood or some sort of block that goes across the top of the lamp? I...

Good to know! Next time I'm under the truck I'll look behind the bumper and see if I can find any wires. I'll check the manual to see which dash button would be the foglight switch as well. I know there's a spot in the fuse block for it so that counts for something, right? And I'll check those...

It's hard to argue with data like that, I suppose, and on that basis I'm not going to start a debate on it on my thread. I appreciate the insight and I'll keep that in mind as I monitor performance between now and 175K, which is the next oil change interval. I have heard of people doing this...

What makes you say that? Everyone I know who's used one has nothing bad to say about them. My dad's 2002 Silverado has had one since it was almost new and the improvement was definitely noticeable. Manufacturers wouldn't offer similarly-designed filters if there wasn't some benefit to the...

From what I've read, yes...the engines are still the same, so the same leaks still apply (valve stem seals, cam seals, etc.). The easiest way to tell if the oil is old or new is to touch it and see if it still looks brown like fresh oil or darker, like oil that's been sitting for a while...

March/April Updates More updates (for anyone actually following this thread): I used 4WD in a dirt lot the other day and it worked flawlessly! The shifter action is firm and precise, which is how I assume it should be from the factory. Granted, the idiot lights in the gauge cluster for 4H and...

    recommended oil for 95 SR

I'm personally a big fan of Castrol GTX High Mileage...I've never had bad luck with Castrol products (used it in my Volvo wagon for the better part of 4 years), it's a part synthetic so you have that advantage, and I'm pretty sure it's rated for long intervals too so if you're one of those...

AC noise inside cabin - how to fix?

From what I've read, it sounds like that's the fan blower motor, and it also seems like that'd be pretty easy to replace. I'm sure one of the Gen III owners on here will have a little more experience with it, but I know fan blowers will burn out or get noisy as they age. Mine's a bit loud (no...

^^^^ What they said! Good to see a fellow Monty Sport owner on the forum. 1. ARB doesn't make any, BUT if you're willing to do a little digging, the bumpers from the 2000+ on Mitsubishi Triton pickup will fit since the grille is the same shape on those. However, you're going to have to order...

Good news! Emmet is fixed. After almost 2 weeks of the dealer trying to find a part that was in good shape, he found a part from out of state and had it shipped and installed for less than what was initially quoted (but still a pretty penny). I haven't tried to use the lever yet but it doesn't...

    Lexus GX470 Expedition build

Just spent a few hours reading through this build thread...what an inspiration. Definitely aiming to have a rig that well-thought-out somewhere in the future, probably a GX like yours as well. Hopefully your next build will be just as awesome! Can't wait to see where it goes.

Update: well, one of the classic Mitsubishi failures happened today. On my way home from work, it occurred to me that the 4WD shifter had seemed a bit loose and that I'd never tried to engage 4H or 4L, so I gave it a go. I came to a stop just down the street from my house, put the truck in...

Thanks man! I would have liked one in white just because it's easier to clean but silver was close. It's been a good truck so far; still figuring out little issues and what needs to be done, but it's a solid DD and (hopefully) a good starter trail rig, once I actually get it on the trails!

'96 L400 Delica build and adventure thread!

I knew that they sold the 2wd version here, but wasn't it called something else? The coolest ones to import would be the 4wd L300s...maybe in another 10-15 years we'll be able to import them!

Good to know that what I did works for the most part! I know exactly where that blockoff plate is, but I'm not sure how it's actually fastened in. Plus I wouldn't want to drill through the blockout plate in case the next owner (far down the road) wants to remove the CB for whatever reason. The...

    WTB: 4 265/75/R15 or 31x10.50x15 Tires

A little more detail on what I'm looking for: New or lightly used (70% tread or more) 265/75/R15 or 31x10.50x15 tires, specifically Cooper AT3s, General Grabber AT2s, or BFG All-Terrains. Just putting this out there as a feeler to see what happens. I'm willing to drive pretty much anywhere in...
