    Would you buy it?

This could be an ongoing thread, but this might be a good place to show a vehicle you would be interested in, the details around it, and then others could chime in on what to look for, mileage too high, etc. For example, I'm considering driving 4 hours to look (which means I'd buy it) at this...

Found a Montero couldn't pass it up.

I'm jealous. So many 2.5's out west, but hardly any down in the south. Lucky bugger. :D

    Monteros on craigslist

DANG DANG DANG!!! That is exactly what I'm looking for. I would jump all over that right now if I wasn't on the other end of the continent. I can never find one of those here in TN.

Aftermarket Lockers in a Gen II

Are those easy to come by from Mitsubishi? I would think that might be a tough part to easily source. What does a factory E-locker cost from Mits? I never had any issues with my factory locker on my old one. But there are some times where having it not tied into the 4Llc setting would be...

Aftermarket Lockers in a Gen II

Who's running them? I've been hunting for a Gen 2 or 2.5 for years now. Apparently down here in the south they either like to beat them to death, or think the frame was forged from diamond mining fairies and in-laid with unobtanium. Found a perfect 1997 Gen 2.5 with 200K + and the owner...

    Monteros on craigslist

Bump. It's hard as heck to find one down south. I've been watching for months. And the two I found the buyers either won't answer emails or calls, or they are off their rocker. Found a 95 Gen II (but it won't run). I asked him some basic questions and he went nutty on me for asking and...

REST IN PEACE TO MY MONTERO

Alright, stupid question since I've never been to the dunes. But I would assume it's his fault since you were on the uphill climb, right? Just trying to learn about the rules of the sand so to speak. I hate that happened to your Monty, that color scheme is my favorite too. At least you can...

2007 later front end and/or wheels on an older Montero?

That right there is just plain sexy.

Help me with Gen 2 option matrix

Stupid question, but why are you gunning for the 3.0L so hard? I thought both required about the same maintenance.

Tell Mitsubishi that these should be brought here.

Even for the crappy tires it did well. What the heck was that chirping noise? Yeah, having diesels here would be ************.

    Joining up with a 98 Mntero 2.5

That is a heck of a steal right there. Great Monty.

    Monteros on craigslist

Just inspect any vehicle coming from the Jersey/New York heavily. Lots of them getting sold without noting water damage.

    Monteros on craigslist

That is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. But it would figure it's on the other end of the country. SHUCKS! I would jump on that today if that was at least a few states away. None around here look that good. They are all beat to death.

    Monteros on craigslist

Bump for this thread as I think we need to keep this going. I'm always looking for a Montero. I will find a good gen 2 /2.5 soon! http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/4119877394.html http://nashville.craigslist.org/ctd/4093513338.html

Newbie here - help me understand!

Gen 1, 2, 2.5 is for fullsize Monteros. As mentioned earlier the Gen 1 did have a 2-door version affectionately named the sport. But anything from 93 on that said Montero Sport was a completely different vehicle. And after what I put my 96 Gen 2 through, I have no doubt it's definitely...

    High Mileage Gen 2.5?

Well seeing as I'm not in the market right now I'll share this one with ya. Local to Nashville, and you could probably knock off that price with the dents and dings: 99 Gen 2.5 with 160k and it has the factory locker http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/3634196201.html

Somebody needs to snatch this up: 95 Montero SR for $800, but needs timing belt

Good info indeed. I didn't know they were either. Well at least I learned something today. :sombrero: Thanks for the info.

Somebody needs to snatch this up: 95 Montero SR for $800, but needs timing belt

Really? I've changed Timing belts on other vehicles before, other than being a royal PITA to do, they were fine after. If they fail on the Montero, are we talking catastrophic? That might be something I need to watch for when looking then.

Somebody needs to snatch this up: 95 Montero SR for $800, but needs timing belt

I'm way too far away or I would jump on this in a hurry. But supposedly this thing only needs a timing belt. Now I haven't done one on the Montero before, but I've done other vehicles and I have access to a full shop. So this would be right up my alley. I have no idea of the overall...
