Homemade Roofracks.

This thread has me highly motivated to build a rack for my topper on my truck. But that has to wait until I build my platform bed in the bed first.

Here is my contribution. Really, really hard to find a roof rack for an F150.

Black night roof rack

Hey black night can you post a close up of how you mounted it to the roof? Did you drill through or use conventional mounting brackets?

Unfortunately I don't have any close up pics right now, I'll take some for you when I get a chance. Yes, I had to drill through the roof to mount it. Crazy scary! But no leaks and its been on there for about a year now.

Here is a roof rack that I built for a local earlier this year. His objectives were to keep it low profile, make it look like it belongs, retain use of the moon roof, provide mounting for lights. I think I hit all of his goals. The lower side tubes were rolled to match the profile of the roof as close as possible.

I basically built my own T-nuts that slid into the factory roof rack rails from the back just like the factory cross bars do. Here is a picture of the mount from the roof rack to the factory rails.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I may have another roof rack to show off in the coming month or two. I'm getting ready to build one for the 1994 S-10 Blazer that I just purchased. I'm thinking about LED light bars and swing out awnings.
