Sorry for the poor pictures, it's dark and raining hard here.
This is after we repaired it to get home, the panel was peeled back to the rear light cluster
That's almost disappointing. I was hoping for some epic story about how you nearly died saving a bus load of nuns trapped when their plane went down on a remote mountain top in a blizzard.
I think you should make up a story anyway. Might as well get something to use at the pub for your troubles.
