I will try to post pictures if I can figure out how.
Get a free Photobucket account at www.photobucket.com and upload your pictures there.

Then use the
insertimage.gif
icon above your composing window and add in the URL location of the picture.
Photobucket also gives you the forum code on their site so you do not even have to click the icon here.

You can also upload pictures as attachments.

Below the window where you type in your replies is a box "manage your attachments" this allows you to upload the pictures directly from your computer.

If there is going to be an attempt to relay the trailer. . . in early September I will be driving from North Carolina to San Diego via I-40.

Three thoughts:

1) It's astonishing the sheriff didn't want to at least inventory the contents or confiscate the entire package as evidence. Good karma, but it's still amazing in my experience.

2) #1 brings up another point - the contents, especially the unopened cooking stuff, might also be stolen goods. I advise caution, and/or a good photo inventory be taken of the contents before disposal.

3) If the contents can generate any cash, I think the first ones to be compensated should be AT. Any leftover $ can be donated, but I think their out-of-pocket for phone calls, possible transport home, and potential rentals that went unfulfilled deserves to be paid back first. Otherwise they're still out $$ that wasn't in the business plan.

3a) Was there a part of the special hitch assembly left in the tow vehicle that's now gone missing?

I agree, selling the items or removing them without permission or the authorities there might be trouble.
I would be available to move the wandering Chaser to it's proper home, I also have a Lock n Roll.

I think we have covered all the legal aspects of this.

We have contacted the Sheriffs Office

We have made an inventory of the trailer contents

We have informed the owner of the contents that they can arrange to pick them up within 48 hours

After the 48 hours we will dispose of the items

Are you running his CC for the recovery expenses?

We are working on billing right now, unfortunately it's not a very straight forward transaction.

AT contents

Contents of the trailer have been photo inventoried and sent to Martyn. Six brown paper grocery bags of canned goods and boxed food are going to a local church. All personal effects and camping gear have been placed back in the trailer awaiting Martyn's instructions.

Great outcome! I can see this trailer being rented at a premium from now on considering it has a "history" :xxrotflma

Nice job Jim and welcome to ExPo! You have earned the right for free beer for life on any trail shared with an ExPo member:beer:
