Loved my ‘13 Tacoma, will I love a new 4Runner?

Perfect thank you for that. I’m pleasantly surprised that your new suspension setup is comparable to the Icon stage 3 you had. Maybe I will go Bilstein this time. Or even OME BP-51. Do you think you’re missing out without the aftermarket upper control arm? I’m not looking for a super crazy lift...

Loved my ‘13 Tacoma, will I love a new 4Runner?

Hello all. I owned a 2013 Tacoma for 5 years and a little over 50K miles. i loved that truck. It had Icon stage 2, 285/75-16 Terra Grapplers, Leer canopy and Baja Rack, ARB Bull bar, and 4.56 gears. I loved driving the truck everywhere... around town, on the highway, on very under-maintained...

2016 4Runner model options questions, hopefully not redundant

I'd feel more comfortable adding air lockers than retrofitting a 3rd row seat, safety-wise.

LA, Denver, Alaska, Inuvik and back - 5 months with a Land Cruiser FZJ80 (Pictures!)

Super extensive but easy to read and follow! Great report. Question: did you drive through any parts that would not have been passable in a Subaru Outback? I realize this question could be taken the wrong way but I am 100% serious. I would like to take our Outback on a similar trip for our...

What do you think about making a bracket/mount for ARB air compressors in that same location under the hood on the passenger side?

    Skunk Works Expo Build

I had a softopper but didn't really like it that much. Not enough security. I have a Leer camper shell now and love it. I hear what you're saying about being able to use the bed. Can't get my dirt bike in there anymore.

    Tire Question

I have Terra Grappler G1 and they're fine for daily use. Only downside is they hum on the highway. For only light trail use I would definitely go with the Cooper AT3.

How do you keep gear safe in open bed Tacoma ?

This is the reason I bought a camper shell. I know it's an expensive option but I like the peace of mind. The only downside is the extra weight. I'd considered weather-proof, lockable drawers but they are expensive too.

2016 Outback: The Traveler - Long Distance Expo Build

Any rubbing with those tires? Are you running wheel spacers? Funny you said the Coopers are smoother than the Bridgestone Duelers. As soon as we took delivery of our 16 Outback I felt like there was a slight tire vibration. I wasn't surprised though as we had a similar experience with our 2012...

    2017 TRD Pro Tacoma

If the Tacoma's automatic transmission is strong enough for the Polar Expedition truck, it's strong enough for me. :) http://www.gizmag.com/toyota-tacoma-polar-expedition-world-record-holder-auction/35386/pictures#1

Help me select new tires - Which have you liked or disliked?

I've been running Nitto Terra Grappler for about 10k miles now and they are just fine on the highway. They are also good in snow and fairly good on solid ice. There is definitely a hum, but much quieter than the BFG KM2 I had on before that. I ran the KM2 for quite a while and absolutely loved...

    Wagonofdoom - 2015 Outback build

I like what you did with this thing. I read through the whole thread twice, but I didn't see if you talked about tire rub or why you used the spacers. Were you getting any rub with the 245/65-17 Coopers? I'm contemplating 235/65-17 on 2015 WRX wheels. Not much bigger or wider than stock but...

    2017 TRD Pro Tacoma

I really like this thing, but I've only had my 2013 for 2.5 years / 30k miles and I told myself I would keep it at least until 100,000 miles. I really need to stop watching that challenge video.

2nd Gen Tacoma: Your favorite aluminum front bumper

Hello all, I need to replace the front bumper on my truck sooner than I had planned (snow incident) but I don't think I've done enough research yet to know which bumper I really want. I know I want aluminum plated to keep the weight down. The 2 options I'm looking at closely are the All-Pro...

RTT on a Tacoma Baja Rack Utility Rack

Bingo. Since it's a vehicle Toyota has to assume it will be moving at some point after you put a load on the roof. So the advertised weight limit is with the truck in motion over some unknown (to us anyway) terrain. "Dynamic load limit" vs static load limit. As long as you don't drive around...

    Towing Recommendations?

Wow that is impressive. I guess that's the best advantage for all the aluminum. Unfortunately to get 3300lb payload you have to spec the regular cab long bed 2x4 with heavy duty package. But then I specced what you would normally find on the lot - a crew cab short bed 4x4 with the ecoboost and...
