    2004 vs 2005 Tacoma

The '04 is a smaller but stronger package. I live in an area full of growers that overload thier trucks down with fertilizer and fencing and then rail them up into the hills as fast as they can drive. A LOT of them say they like thier older Tacomas better than thier new ones because of how...

Need some help if you have a winch and an ARB!

Make sure you route your power cables well out of the way of the spool. Just had a cust. come in who managed to wind the power lead into the cable while winching and fried three wiring harnesses and a bunch of fuses in his Taco. Not cheap.

any one ever a full length rack on a taco?

Enough....especially on a newer Taco, even more so on a 4 door long bed. Keep in mind that the bed is mounted solid to the frame and the cab is on rubber mounts, and the new mounts especially, allow a lot of cushion (movement). Then add in frame flex.

To weld aluminum with the Hobart 140 you need a spool gun and controller, which basically doubles the cost of that welder. That being said, I have one and love it for lighter duty work, like stated, thick materials need a 220 machine or your stick welder. As far as the Airforce 250 I've been...

What to watch out for on a 3rd gen 4runner?

ECU thinks it's not engaged, either locker is stuck or switch on locker housing is bad. The switch just tells the ECU that the locker has engaged and they go out sometimes, the axle will still actually be locked if just the switch is bad and you should be able to feel a difference, especially...

    T100/Pickup/4Runner front end parts

Well used I guess would be a good description. The truck had about 170K when I took everything off, likely original, some cracking and one has the corner peeling off but no excessive play when they were part of the truck from what I remember.

    Tundra Brake Swap

Sort of on subject...Anyone know if this swap works on a '01 4R with the hydroboost brakes?

    Beefing up the tent trailer

Definitely heavier, from the box down at least. The top is ABS and I plan on building an aluminum top this Winter if I can keep the weight down (might go with something like Nidacore instead). The paint color will stay the neutral grey (lighter shade top) because it is going to be pulled by...

    Beefing up the tent trailer

They are 15X7 or 8. They are just a pair of Toyota spare rims, one from my truck and one from a 4Runner at the wrecking yard. The tires are 32X11.50X15. Here's a couple of pics from the weekend, not much changed, just fine tuning the bed supports and planning out the rear stabilizer setup -...

    5vzfe Knock sensor wiring?

^And intake gaskets...+2 plenum gaskets if you aren't comfortable using the old ones again and the knock sensor itself if it has some age on it (not a cheap part but you're in there anyways, sometimes the connector will pull off the top of the sensor when trying to remove the harness)

    Trailer tongue math help

50 degrees is the standard for angle mount couplers and most tongue boxes. Using that angle though would force you to make your tongue a predetermined length based on the width of your trailer box. The calculating part isn't hard, just hard to explain. With a 50 degree tongue the angles at...

    Beefing up the tent trailer

Shot myself in the foot and canceled the Yellowstone trip at the last minute, mostly due to bad weather predicted for the week we were planning on going. I had stayed up late nights and sacrificed my sanity to hustle it out at the last minute only to realize that it wasn't quite done and the...

    Removing factory stripes?

Don't concentrate on one spot too long or it can burn your paint depending on the gun. The stripe usually tears/breaks before that though. Just keep it moving on the area that you're peeling towards, it takes some getting used to with the heat and moving at the right speed but once you get it...

    Removing factory stripes?

X2 It'll be darker under the stripe where it isn't faded from the sun. If you luck out with that and the heat gun trick doesn't work, auto paint supply shops sell erasers that mount to a drill or air grinder and take it off pretty easily...real messy though, lots of rubber powder everywhere as...

    Beefing up the tent trailer

Ok, so like most of my projects this one has gotten a little out of hand. My original plan to use plywood floor and wheel wells was a frustrating concept. Once I got it all together and sealed it was so warped that I didn't want to risk cutting and attaching the side walls to it only to have...

    pop top fj idea

Just use Yahoo or Google image search for FJ convertible, they are mostly auto show/promo pictures but it may give you some ideas on structure and what not. Like stated though, it may be your best bet to contact Ursa Minor since they already have the concept down, just on a different platform...

There are already convertible FJs out there, with time, and money an idea like that is definitely possible.

    Beefing up the tent trailer

I had both of these ideals in mind when I had my tongue piece cut as long as I did. The only problem is that with my T100 being the size that it is, it puts everything way back there as the photo shows. I wil likely come up with some sort of compromise, with maybe an extendable tongue being an...
